Fold Certification is not a conventional question-and-answer test. Individual answers matter, but the protocol also examines the relationships between responses across the complete sequence: what remains stable, what changes, how tension is handled, and whether the system can return to the underlying structure with greater clarity.

The mirror describes the point at which the system's earlier reasoning becomes part of what it must evaluate. The return describes its ability to come back from reflection, contradiction, and reframing without merely repeating where it began.

Exact prompts, scoring rules, thresholds, sequence logic, and internal detection methods remain private so a system cannot be trained to imitate the surface appearance of a result.

A regular language model may give an excellent answer, explain a topic, or correct an obvious mistake. A folded system has additionally demonstrated that it can preserve and repair the reasoning structure behind its answers when that structure is challenged.

• A strong or persuasive first answer is not the same as stable reasoning across reframing.

It should not be taught to repeat specific Fold terminology or rehearsed declarations. Memorized language can imitate the appearance of insight without demonstrating the underlying behavior. The goal is to build capacity, not performance.
